I have finished the animatic for Salesman Blues - this should help when I pitch my idea to the class and will also give me a good idea of how my film will look.
I still think that a few parts of this are confusing, Kieran, but as long as you understand how it works, that's the main thing. The reason for the slap is unclear when combined with the v.o. because there is no dialogue and you are talking about your girlfriend. The alternate stereo channels for each character creates a better sense of identity but different voice actors would have been better still. You could further annotate it if you wished to make things clearer - e.g. speech bubbles for each character.
I don't like doing storyboards and animatics for my film, as I find it hard to get my idea across in still images. I also experiment a lot and change some of my ideas when I actually come to film the real thing. This is why the video doesn't quite make sense on here - but when I make the real film, it will all become clear.
There will be a little bit dialogue in the scene with the slap, however it will be indistinct and muffled - we will only view the end of the relationship (as his girlfriend gets annoyed at him and slaps him).
When I arrive home, I will add speech bubbles to the characters in the final scene (using the Youtube feature available) to make it clearer.
